Individual Counselling
My approach is to focus on what matters to you and what’s happening for you, while using good old-fashioned common sense and life wisdom alongside my professional knowledge and experience.
You will receive genuine empathy and compassion for whatever it is you are going through.
I personalise and integrate principles from several evidence-based modalities (such as these below) in order to best support your needs and desired outcomes.
“Why can’t I change?”
Narrative therapy helps you see that your struggles do not define who you are, and that you can create a new story about your life.
“How am I going to cope with this?”
Grief and loss therapy comes alongside you as an empathic witness to your pain and supports you as you process your loss and adjust to life moving forward.
“How can I keep going even when things are really hard?”
Acceptance & Commitment therapy (ACT) helps you notice hard thoughts and feelings without fighting them, so that you can live by your values and keep doing what matters to you.
“How can I stop negative thoughts and habits from taking over?”
Cognitive & Behaviour therapy (CBT) helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions affect each other and gives you tools to break free from unhelpful patterns.
“How can I fix things instead of just talking about my problems?”
Solutions-Focused therapy (SFT) empowers you to find your inner strengths and resources so that problems become more manageable.
“Where is God in all this?”
It is normal to struggle with questions of faith when life feels hard. I provide a safe space for those questions to be spoken and heard without judgement or stigma. Your spiritual wellbeing is important. If desired, I can offer a christian faith-based framework that we work from in sessions.
What is your fee and why is it cheaper than other counsellors?
$100 1hr session
I deliberately keep my fee lower than what the gap fee is likely to be if you see a psychologist, as personal wellbeing is important and should be affordable for everyone. Additionally, concession rates are available for cardholders, so please enquire.
What kinds of things do you help with?
I can assist adult clients with a broad range of concerns. For example anxiety, stress, depression, difficult thoughts, emotions or behaviours, relationship problems, grief or loss, life transitions, unexpected life curveballs, challenges in parenting, your caring role or in your career.
It does not need to be a “big” issue in order to seek counselling. You may simply appreciate having a safe and confidential space to speak freely, without burdening your family or friends.
If at any point in our sessions I feel that you would benefit from more specialised support, I will always let you know and work with you to find the best referral pathway.
Is there a female counsellor in Logan, Brisbane who can support me with my cancer diagnosis?
I am in the unique position of being both a cancer survivor, and a counselling professional. I get it. I have been through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation and understand the impact a cancer diagnosis has physically, emotionally, and mentally. I also understand the ripple affect it causes across all your life domains both now and into your future. I would be honoured to support you.
What female counsellor in Logan, Brisbane understands the impacts of menopause?
I am a post-menopausal woman who has experienced first-hand the physical, emotional, and mental impacts of this life transition. I have worked hard to gain a sense of balance and equilibrium during this challenging phase and would love to be able to come alongside and encourage you to build your capacity to do the same.
Who is a female counsellor in Logan, Brisbane who has genuine life experience and wisdom when it comes to parenting?
I have four married adult children, four grandchildren, was a respite and emergency foster carer for many years, and worked in learning enrichment and student care and wellbeing for over a decade at a prep to year 12 college. I love children and families, and have lived experience of the different developmental stages right through to adulthood, in addition to working with children on independent education plans in the school environment, and children from trauma backgrounds in foster care.
What does all that mean for you? I can empathise with your parenting concerns and challenges at whatever life stage you are at, and would love to support you as you continue to do the most important job in the world!
What female counsellor in Logan, Brisbane is a registered counsellor who is also a Christian?
I am a counsellor who happens to be a christian, rather than a “christian” counsellor. I can offer a faith perspective for like-minded clients who may desire this in their sessions, but I also work with clients from any world view.
How do I ask you a different question?
You may find what you need on the FAQ page, or please reach out via the contact page and I will respond within one buisness day.
