Purposeful Counselling
…enhancing the inner wellbeing of your heart and mind
Counselling
I am a person-centred practitioner, which means I focus on what matters to you and what’s happening for you.
I recognise each client as a unique individual, and take an integrated approach rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This means I will tailor evidence-based counselling modalities to best support your needs and desired outcomes.
This may include drawing on modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), to name just a few, or principles from neuroscience, attachment theory, and family systems.
I am trauma-informed, which means I understand the importance of providing a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic space where healing and recovery can occur.
I work ethically in collaboration with you, which means you are always free to decide when you feel ready to complete your sessions.
As a Christian, I can incorporate a biblical perspective for clients who desire this in their sessions, but I am more than happy to work with clients from any worldview.
Background
My life experiences bring wisdom and compassion to my work as a counsellor, and inform my practice just as much as my formal qualifications.
I am a wife, mother, nanna, and cancer survivor. I have experienced the highs and lows of life (just like you). The care and support of families, particularly parents and their children, has always been at the heart of everything I do.
Over several decades, my working life has included providing education and psychosocial support to young carers in their homes, case management, support coordination for women with cancer, facilitating student care and wellbeing programs for students and their families at an independent college, and patient support navigation for a national not-for-profit cancer organisation.
I hold a Bachelor of Human Services (Child & Family), a Master of Counselling, and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision.
I am a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association and a registered Professional Supervisor for Chaplaincy Australia. I am also a trained Griefline volunteer.
I would love to connect with you.
